Inauguration with Scott Wylie and Diana Zelaya

In the older neighborhoods of Eugene, the homes are close together and their outdoor spaces are countless variations of the "urban garden". This location, near the University, is in a very pedestrian-oriented neighborhood where much attention is paid to beauty that’s appreciated on an intimate scale. Every bit of street frontage needs to present a pleasing picture. A small nook of this corner property always had been used for parking, as well as it is the principal approach to the front entrance of a gracious house. The old surface, made of railroad ties, while possessing lots of character, was worn out, rotting, and hazardous..... we set upon the notion of re-building this surface as an ornamental patio. All the materials employed here are "driving grade" and, over time, the pattern grows more and more subtle. These pictures date from the project’s inauguration.
